Niall and Nikki's version of South America 2011. Information here on South America backpacking, in particular Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, some Chile and some Uruguay.

FIRST STOP: PERU

- Arrive in Lima 18th Sept
- Fly to Cuzco 19th Sept & spend a few days there chilling/ catching up on sleep etc!
- Spend a night in Aguas Calientes and get up at 5am the following morning to start our trip to Machu Picchu
- Trek up Machu Picchu... take some pics... descend!
- Couple of days knockin around Cuzco sight seeing
- Bus to Arequipa, spend 1-2 nights
- Bus to Puno, spend a night then head out on Lake Titicaca
- Spend a night or 2 on the lake (Isle Amantani/ Isle Taquile)
- Back to Puno before heading into Wild Bolivia!
WILD AND WONDERFUL BOLIVIA/ TASTE OF CHILE

- From Puno we arrive in Copacabana by Lake Titicaca and depending on how nice spend a night or 2
- Back to La Paz, take in the bustling atmosphere before finding out a way to Rurrenabaque without hitting "THE Most Dangerous Road in the World"!
- Bus/ plane to Rurrenabaque where we enter the Amazon
- 3-5 days in the Amazon
- Back to La Paz
- Bus to Oruro and stop or not stop depending on how nice
- Sucre. Stay for a couple of nights, talk to locals, find out best company to take jeep Safari with from Potosi
- Bus to Potosi. 3-4 day jeep safari from Potosi taking us to Uyuni for a night and then across the Uyuni Salt Flats and across the border into Chile.
- Continue through the Atacama desert on safari until we get to Calama
- San Pedro De Atacama
ARGENTINA

- From the Desert in Chile we head to the border and into Argentina
- Arrive in San Salvador de Jujuy and while basing ourselves there maybe take a couple of day trips to Humahuaca, Tilcara, and Purmamarca
- Head South to the beautiful Salta and hopefully allow ourselves a good 5-8 days approx to take a huge chill out!
- Destination Cordoba but by taking the more scenic and interesting route 40 rather than the straight & fast route 9!
- Along route 40 stop off at Cachi and Cafayate and maybe stay a night or 2 if nice
- Stop off in San Miguel de Tucuman for a day or 2 before arriving finally in Cordoba
- From Cordoba after deciding how many nights we fancy staying here before we brave the OKTOBERFEST (!!!!!) a little south of Cordoba in Rio Cuarto
- Mendoza
- Bariloche (Patagonia) maybe by overnight bus. That's IF the volcano has calmed down and the town is no longer blanketed by ash!!
- FINALLY: LUXURY... TANGO... NICE FOOD... PARTY TIME....... BUENOS AIRES!!
